WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE FALL IS:
Changing Colors The majestic evergreen trees make a stark contrast to those of the deciduous trees displaying their spectrum of colors ranging from golden yellows to deep reds. This is fall in all its glory. The beauty of the season is never so obvious as when this palette of fall expression blooms. |
Crisp Air
When the air begins to get cool, the heavy air of the summer humidity doesn’t hamper a walk or run outdoors. In the evening, the stars seem that much brighter. The smell of fresh apples permeates and sends a welcome message to all who pass by. It feels fresh, clean and surely new.
Pumpkin Patches
Pumpkins have a special appeal that transcends Halloween. The bright orange skin pops when situated next to the heavy green vines of its parent. Inside, sugary goodness awaits…not too sweet, and yet oh so delicious within pie, cakes, or as a creamy soup. And don’t forget that favorite snack of pumkin seeds!
The Last of the Summer Wine
Now that summer is waning, we can appreciate and savor what was. Anyone who has jumped in a pile of leaves or sat around a glowing bonfire in fall knows the joy of the season of autumn.
Although the weather becomes cooler and some things are leaving for a time, we can look forward to the rebirth of the year in spring, just as we witness the coming of age of our surroundings.
Famous American Authors Who Wrote About Autumn
„The leaves are falling, falling as from way off,
as though far gardens withered in the skies;
they are falling with denying gestures.
And in the nights the heavy earth is falling
from all the stars down into loneliness.
We all are falling. This hand falls.
And look at others: it is in them all.
And yet there is one who holds this falling
endlessly gently in his hands.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
„There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.”
– Nathaniel Hawthorne
„She had only to stand in the orchard, to put her hand on a little crab tree and look up at the apples, to make you feel the goodness of planting and tending and harvesting at last.”
– Willa Cather
„When everything that ticked has stopped,
And space stares, all around,
Or grisly frosts, first autumn morns,
Repeal the beating ground.”
– Emily Dickinson
HERE’S TO A GREAT FALL SEASON, WHEREVER YOU MAY BE!
Draga Paula,
Thank you so very much for the nice comments. I will never forget my time in the mountains and the village which has brought me so many wonderful memories laced with fresh air, laughter, the inspiration to write and store up the pictures which will sustain me long after I have finished my service in Romania. Here’s hoping that your fall season is plentiful and sweet!
