REMUS AZOITEI has performed extensively across Europe, as well as North America, Japan and New Zealand. The Strad states that “Azoitei has all the requirements: marked sensitivity, a sweetness of tone and an impressive emotional and dynamic range”. His performance in 2005 of the Bach Double concerto with Nigel Kennedy was broadcast on 19 stations worldwide, including Arte and Mezzo. His teachers included Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman at the Juilliard School, as well as Maurice Hasson at the Royal Academy of Music. He has received “The Cultural Order” from the Romanian President. In 2001, Remus Azoitei became the youngest-ever violin professor in the history of the Royal Academy of Music.
EDUARD STAN is hailed by The Strad as a “pianist who reveals a fine gift of restraint and an instinctive feel for balance”. Born in Romania, he emigrated to Germany in 1978, and has since performed across Europe and the US in venues such as Berlin Philharmonie, Musikhalle Hamburg and Salt Lake City Temple Square. His teachers included Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Arie Vardi. Featured at festivals such as Massenet, Mid-Europe and Brunswick Classix, Eduard has also performed as soloist with orchestras in Germany, Austria, Italy and Romania. In 2005, he received the Enescu Medal from the Romanian Culture Institute. His critically acclaimed CDs for Hänssler range from Bach to Debussy.
The artists have just completed the world’s first recording of the entire repertoire for violin and piano by Enescu. The first volume of this 2 CD collection has already attracted critical acclaim: “Fabulous recording” – Frankfurter Allgemeine, “Every detail is caught to perfection” – The Strad, “In short, a superb disc” – International Record Review, “A strong candidate for the Classical Hall of Fame” – Fanfare.
