Applicants are strongly encouraged to consult both the revised Application guidelines AND the revised Strategy.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Community-based organizations (CBOs) are invited to apply. Project proposals must be received by 17 July 2006, hours 16:00, at: UNDP, Casa ONU, Bd. Primaverii, nr. 48A, sector 1, Bucuresti, “In atentia Programului GEF de granturi mici”.
For this financing cycle, GEF SGP will finance projects addressing the International Waters (IW) GEF focal area. A project addressing IW can also address other GEF focal areas, such as: sustainable land management (SLM), biodiversity conservation (BC), climate change mitigation (CC), reduction of persistent organic pollutants’ (POPs) impact.
Projects need to address environmental protection, poverty reduction, and local empowerment. They need to involve local communities in the project’s stages and to respond to the requirements in the Logical Matrix of the GEF SGP Strategy.
The maximum amount for a grant is 50,000 USD. Projects need to demonstrate a minimum 35% (recommended 50%) co-financing, cash and in-kind altogether.
