ALL CHANGE!
The Romanian Film Festival in London, 6th Edition
1 – 4 May 2009
Curzon Mayfair, 38 Curzon Street, London W1J 7TY

Dear Friends,

ALL CHANGE! The Romanian Film Festival in London is ready to open its doors to the public. There is so much news we would like to impart to you, that instead of having a trickle of information coming your way, we decided to publish it all in a comprehensive Festival Newsletter. Please see details below.

The programme is published, the guests invited – what else could be said to entice you to our Festival? We thought hard about this and came up with a list of reasons:
– You will see some of the best and newest productions from Romania, land of the new ‘New Wave’;
– You will have the chance to meet and talk to some of the most important people in Romanian film: veteran director Stere Gulea, acting legend Victor Rebengiuc, actor-turned-director Horatiu Malaele;
– What better way to celebrate 1 May than by attending the Opening Night of the Romanian Film Festival! Join us for the ‘Silent Wedding’ and do your patriotic duty! Traiasca 1 Mai! (Long live 1 May!);
– You will also meet the charismatic star of new Romanian cinema, Andi Vasluianu, as well as young documentary film director Andrei Dascalescu;
– All films in the programme benefit from either a Q&A session or an introduction (see below);
– And, finally, all your friends will envy you for being up-to-date with world cinema’s hottest ticket (that is, if they are not coming as well).

Well, we trust that for the reasons listed above, as well as for the very high quality of the films on offer you will decide to join us. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Curzon Mayfair cinema for the most exciting first days of May for Romanian culture in this country.

With best regards,

Ramona Mitrica

COMPETITION

For a chance to win a pair of tickets for the Opening Film ‘Silent Wedding’ by Horatiu Malaele, on Friday 1 May, you have to provide the correct answer to the following question:
What is the name of director Stere Gulea’s last film before ‘Weekend with my Mother’?
Hint: there’s a newly launched website where you can find interesting details about all films in the Festival.

Send your replies up to 5 pm on Tuesday 28 April at mail@romanianculturalcentre.org.uk. Don’t forget to include in your message your FULL NAME and a TELEPHONE NUMBER. Three winners will be selected through a raffle from all the correct answers we receive until the deadline, and will be notified in writing at the e-mail address provided.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

With the occasion of ALL CHANGE!, the sixth edition of the Romanian Film Festival in London, the Ratiu Foundation / Romanian Cultural Centre are looking for motivated people to join the Festival’s team as interns / volunteers.

This is a position requiring a hands-on approach, working behind the scenes for the smooth running of the most important Romanian cultural event of the year in the UK.
You will have the chance to work in a challenging environment alongside a small and dedicated team of professionals in the field of cinema, cultural promotion and event organising. You will meet some of the biggest names in Romanian cinema, as well as a host of film professionals and journalists from the UK.
The entire activity will be carried out on a voluntary work basis. Some of the duties will include leaflet distribution, welcoming guests, assisting with the special events, etc.

The rewards of an intern / volunteer post with the Romanian Film Festival are:
– Access to the Festival films and events
– A very good learning experience
– A working environment with lots of colleagues who are into films
– Work experience within the cultural promotion / event organising domain
– Strong CV material
– Festival volunteers are listed by name on the Festival’s website in recognition of their dedication and service
– Invitation to the private Opening Party for all our staff

Due to the nature of the work to be done, good knowledge of English is essential. Romanian comes as a bonus. Good organising skills, ability to work with people and to tight deadlines, as well as friendliness are a must. A love of cinema – and Romanian cinema especially – is necessary.
To apply, send us a cover letter accompanied by an up-to-date CV on mail@ratiufamilyfoundation.com
