Translator within the twinning project RO04/SO 01 – Implementation of the harmonised legislation
on Occupational Safety and Health in the small and medium-sized enterprises, project financed
by the European Union through Phare programme.
We are searching for a highly committed and motivated person with exceptional translation and
interpretation skills for the position of a “Translator and Interpreter in the Twinning Project”. You should
be able to provide evidence for the following:
• High school diploma or equivalent certificate as English translator
• Excellent knowledge of the Romanian language – preferably native speaker.
• Two years of experience as translator and/or interpreter in Phare and/or Twinning Projects
• Excellent abilities in using MS-Office applications
• Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety terminology
• Driving licence (B) would be an asset
Your tasks will be focused but not limited to the following:
• Assisting the Twinning project in translation and editing of texts from Romanian to English
language and vice versa
• Assisting the Twinning project in the interpretation from Romanian to English language and
vice versa
• Provide IT, logistics and administrative support at training sessions, workshops, seminars and
conferences
• Other duties and ad hoc administrative support to RTAs in Romania including advice and
guidance on local issues.
Contractual nature of the job: Independent consultant, on the basis of the standard Phare contract
for services. The translator will be self employed and will undertake full responsibility for the payment
of all taxes and obligations deriving from the legislation in force, including for those related to medical
and social insurance.
Remuneration: €900/month. The contract provides for the payment at the end of the month, in ROL,
at the exchange rate of the date of payment.
Status of the position: The Twinning contract will be for 24 months. The RTA assistants contracts
can run throughout the period of the twinning contract. The starting date for the twinning contract is
still subject to negotiation – likewise the starting date for the RTA. (Possible start date is September
2005 but this is subject to confirmation).
